It was a dark stormy night and electric power had been disrupted. Under candlelight, the night of 8 September of the year of our Lord 1940, a soul descended from heaven and I was made a man!
As a gift from my creator, I was placed on the hands of the family Wer Garcia to join two older brothers Roberto Guillermo Wer and Carlos Enrique Wer. My mother Josefina Garcia Prado de Wer, who tenderly carried me to term and my father Roberto Wer Tinoco, christened me with my Grandfather’s name: Jose Wer
I do not remember my grandfather but my aunts held that I looked just like him, so he was obviously a very handsome devil! (LOL).
One thing is for sure, my father was right . . . I am a lucky person and while my father is no longer with us, my dear mother is in very good health ready to celebrate her 99th Birth date in less than 2 months! . . . . . What a Blessing!!!
While my brother Carlos joined my father in the heavenly realm last year, the rest of the Wer-Garcia family remains intact, spanning its history from as early as 1933.
Representing the opposite gender are my two sisters Maria Enriqueta (later changed the “qu” to the American “k” to maintain the “7 and 13” letter principle) a seemingly hard outer crust person but with a center core as delightful and soft as melting chocolate, and our youngest, Olga Wer who’s sweetness and love radiates outwardly as the rays of the sun to warm every soul around her.
Again, I must impress the fact that I have been blessed and lady luck surrounds me!
The proof is in the pudin, as they say, and mine is sooo sweet! Her name is Phyllis and she's been my life for 46 years giving me 4 wonderful daughteers: Jennifer, Andrea, Erika and Deanna. We also have a Dozen Grand Children and 2 Great Grand Children.
