The Economy and Energy Crunch

Everyone is worried about our economy and the news media is helping by scaring all of us with their "guru" personality predictions of a very long term problem. They even decided that the so call "deflation" started over a year ago, although "no one new realize it" at the time!

So what is the truth? Well, to many people that have not had the malady of "intellectual blindness" it has been obvious that the problem has been long coming. The unfortunately move by our Government to remove the backing of our monetary system from Gold to the present day of simply "printing" as many as you need (or want) has made the Dollar more or less useless!

No wonder other countries are eying the Euro as the replacement to the world's international money system.

Just think . . . Our politicians decide that we (the taxpayers who pay not with useless Dollars but with the sweat of our brows) allow them to order Billions of new paper printing to be used as "legal tender" but, at the price of paper . . . It does not equate to the amount of work we will have to perform to pay in taxes (so they can pay us back (?) . . I'm I making sense? . . . If not, how come they think THEY make sense???

Not only did our banking system (system?) who's dubious actions lead to the problem to begin with, obtained what most consider an obscene amount of bail-out money, but now our Auto "Big-Three" got a rich hand-out! Oh yes! They will repay us (the tax payers). Are they going to give us lower pricing? More efficient cars (so the foreign oil companies can pick up their slack)?

As with the banks, the problem was their creation! When it was easy for foreign Auto Makers to produce their cars and ship them over the oceans and not only "compete" but offer their products at a lower price, it tells me that they abused their market through shear Greed!

And not only from the manufacturing companies but also from their Unions who sought "life time" security and benefits not available to other workers anywhere or anytime!

OK, so now through their tears (and the tears of our tax payers), what should be done? Any ideas CEO's? (I guess not, like our politicians they have the "mental blindness" syndrome!).

For the housing industry, I say, it is about time that the local State and City politicians STOP strangling the home owners with perversive Property Tax laws! . . . They use to be done every 10 to 15 years by

local Tax Assessors. Now they are done EVERY YEAR by highly paid assessors brought from other States at the Tax payers expense! (Local Political Greed!!!) They should consider that there is no value to the house that is not on the "for sale market" or trying to obtain a mortgage loan. To a home owner (and specially the "retired seniors") their house is an "Expense" that is hard to maintain when you consider the mortgage and property taxes)

After a lifetime of tax paying, there should be total relief for the people who attain retirement age! Social Security is "starvation money"! Only the rich can retire in comfort and without money problems.

What about the Auto Industry? Hello American Thinkers!!! Can't you come out with good ideas? Why only talk about "more digging for oil" when you know that eventually you will dry the veins of our planet by socking every drop out! What about taking the most dangerous weapon from the hands of the enemies of our nation and culture by eliminating this commodity?

Yes, we live in a country that traditionally has had the edge in finding solutions to the world problems!

What about . . . Water (Steam) Power? I cook and boil water on a Microwave in mere seconds. I also remember the old Locomotive engines that pulled incredible amounts of weight just by boiling water and the use of steam!

Can a car engine be driven by a Microwave Steam System? Why not?

I also seen the old planes that used helixes rotating at high speed to allow the aircraft to rise up and fly. I now see Jets that use the "fans" in reverse with a lower escape opening to push the aircraft much faster and allow them to fly at higher speeds. With cars, the high speed is not needed nor wanted, but, could this system help the use of lesser fuel?

OK, OK, I'm definitely NOT an Engineer! My point is that the old American Ingenuity that I admired as a young child appears to be "dormant". Yes, I'm a transplant from a foreign country, proud to be an American but not impressed by the present "I don't know what to do, but I need money" attitude of the people who have risen to the high (deserving or not) positions in industry.

I also thing that our people deserve to have all those "Golden Parachute" beneficiaries repay the money they have stolen from our tax payer population!

Jose, you make a lot of good points but American ingenuity isn't dead at all just bought out. Oil is the king and it will remain so until it does not become a viable money maker any longer and they can retool everything we use it for. best wishes, keep plugging.

Thank you for your input Robert. I do believe that it is time to loosen the shackles that the oil industry has placed on US, before we loose the wonderful country that we have..

This is the best response I have received.  It is great to know that our future generations are intelectually aroused by the present problems and solutions of our great nation.  Thank you for being part of our American future leaders.
